Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel today highlighted the capacity for resistance and victory of the Cuban people, despite the complex situation facing the Caribbean nation due to the intensification of the U.S. blockade.
Speaking at the closing of the sixth ordinary session of the National Assembly of People's Power, the head of state emphasized that the nation is governed by the principle of unity, continuity, and creative resistance.
The president highlighted the Cuban people's ability to, amidst shortages, create, innovate, and move forward.
"Today we conclude a session of deep and vitally important debate for the present and future of the nation," he assessed.
Díaz-Canel referred to the debates on the country's economic panorama and urged the need for timely analysis on what is failing.
"The magnitude of the crisis is recognized, reality is not disguised, and at the same time, the political will to change what must be changed to defend social justice and national sovereignty is ratified," he affirmed.
The head of state detailed that the previous day, during the economic commission, legislators addressed the urgency of implementing actions in national production to position it as a pillar in the sector's takeoff.
In this sense, he specified that the productive area still presents deficiencies that affect national consumption and exports, while also depriving the country of important financial resources.
"A country with financing persecuted by the United States is obligated to manage the essential levels of foreign currency with maximum efficiency to confront production problems," he insisted.
