Díaz-Canel congratulates Abel Prieto on his Honoris Causa Degree

Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel congratulated Abel Prieto, President of Casa de las Americas, who received on Thursday the degree of Doctor Honoris Causa in Philological Sciences from the Central University of Las Villas Marta Abreu (UCLV).

You deserve this and many other recognitions, for your work, for your dedication to the Revolution and the love you profess to your homeland, wrote the president from his account on the social network X.

In his message, Diaz-Canel sent him a big hug on behalf of himself and his wife Lis Cuesta.

“Many congratulations, brother! You deserve that and many more recognitions, for your work, for your dedication to the Revolution and the love you profess to your Homeland. Lis and I send you a big hug¨

A graduate in Hispanic Literature from the University of Havana, with an extensive career as a politician, writer, editor and professor, Abel Prieto has played important roles in defense of the nation's cultural policy, from the presidency of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (Uneac), as Minister of Culture and advisor to the President of the Councils of State and Ministers.

He is also currently a member of the National Council of UNEAC and of the Network of Intellectuals, Artists and Social Movements “In Defense of Humanity”, a task he has been promoting since 2003.
