President Joins Clean-Up Initiative in Havana

Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel participated in a clean-up effort in the capital today and called on the people to multiply their efforts for the good of Cuba. The president convened in the surroundings of the Palace of the Revolution alongside Prime Minister Manuel Marrero and the Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, Roberto Morales, to sanitize the area. Other national leaders and workers from the institution also participated.

Acknowledging Public Sentiment and Challenges

Díaz-Canel stated, "There is a national call, and the population has joined in. They have acted with a sense of responsibility, above all due to the dissatisfaction they felt with the situation we are experiencing." He emphasized the need to combat problems daily and to set the goal of doing good for the city and the community, adding, "I believe people have responded well, and a good atmosphere has been created."

However, he also acknowledged the challenges, noting, "Not everything is rosy. A large portion has mobilized, but others have not heeded the call and think that others have to solve the problem." The president argued that initiatives like these reveal the country's own inadequacies, pointing to issues related to "daily maintenance and systematicity" that should not require a general mobilization.

A Sustained Effort is Needed

Looking ahead, the head of state asserted that there is still much to do. "Although we made a significant effort over the weekend, we will not solve everything," he said. "We will have to continue this week, and above all, what concerns the people is how this will be sustained. We will sustain it if we all work like this."

He concluded on a hopeful note, expressing his belief that the work in Havana would inspire actions across the country. "In the end, what is multiplied is the effort of Cuban men and women for the well-being of all," Díaz-Canel concluded.
