Beijing, Mar 30 (Prensa Latina) Deputy Prime Minister Jorge Luis Perdomo met on Thursday with members of Cuba's state mission and students in China to update them about the country's situation and the objectives of his visit here.

The event was held at the Cuban Embassy, where the leader explained the actions underway to solve socioeconomic problems resulting from the tightening of the economic, financial and commercial blockade of the United States, the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and the world crisis.

Among achievements, he noted the rapid development and administration of Cuba’s homegrown vaccines against Covid-19, which allowed for a high level of immunization among citizens.

Perdomo also referred to all three electoral processes held in Cuba since last year and the upcoming constitution of the National People’s Power Assembly, which will designate its leadership and the other members of the Council of State, as well as the President and Vice President of the Republic.

On the other hand, Perdomo commented that his working visit to China aims to follow up on projects in prioritized sectors for both countries such as biotechnology, health care and telecommunications.

He expressed satisfaction with the meetings held on Thursday with top local authorities in those fields and considered that the current scenario is favorable to strengthen bilateral relations and cooperation.

The deputy prime minister is heading a large delegation from Cuba and he will have a busy agenda, including meetings with representatives of local companies.
