Brussels, Jun 23 (Prensa Latina) A delegation from the Cuban National Assembly headed by its secretary Homero Acosta is culminating its work program in Belgium, where it strengthened ties with the House of Representatives and the European Union.

On the fourth and last day of work on Belgian soil, before traveling to Luxembourg, the group will conduct new meetings on the agenda in the Chamber and in the European Parliament, where issues such as cooperation, health, change climate, the reality of Cuba and the blockade imposed by the United States were addressed in previous days.

Acosta, deputies Estela Cristina Luna and Luis Morlote, ambassador Yaira Jimenez and other Cuban diplomats participated in a television space of the European Parliament, where they exposed the challenges and struggles Cuba faces, topics almost always distorted in the mainstream media.

Cuba and the EU ratified their interest in promoting the Political Dialogue and Cooperation Agreement signed in 2016 as a central element of their relations, a position established in a meeting between Acosta and Brian Glynn, director general for the Americas of the European Foreign Action Service.

The secretary of the National Assembly and the Council of State of Cuba spoke in previous days with the President of the Belgian Chamber of Representatives, Éliane Tillieux, and with the Vice-President of the European Parliament Pina Picierno, among other local and European authorities.

Picierno rejected the US blockade of Cuba, calling it anachronistic and lamenting the suffering it causes on Cuba’s people.
