Death toll from floods rises to 42 in Niger

The death toll from the floods in Niger rose to 42, according to official sources quoted today by the ANP news agency.
In addition, about 30 people have been injured, said the director general of Civil Protection of the Interior Ministry, Major Colonel Bako Boubacar.
The source said that about 32,500 victims and more than 2,800 houses collapsed in the eight regions of the country.
Boubacar said that the most affected areas are those of Maradi, Zinder and Tahoua, which on Friday alone reported eight, five and four deaths, respectively.
In addition, about 850 animals were lost.
