Cuba’s National Ballet to hold gala on 64th anniversary of Revolution

Havana, Dec 26 (Prensa Latina) The National Ballet of Cuba (BNC) will begin its performances in 2023 with a gala in this capital to celebrate the 64th anniversary of the triumph of the Revolution, on January 1.

The show, directed by Viengsay Valdes, will take place at 5:00 p.m. local time at the Avellaneda Hall of the National Theater and, according to this institution, tickets will be sold as of Tuesday, December 27.

“The Magic of Dance” is the title of this anthology with selections of classic ballets in the renowned versions of Alicia Alonso, which will also be performed for the public on January 6, 7, 8, 14 and 15.

On January 1, passages from the ballet “Giselle” will be starred by Grettel Morejon, accompanied by Anyelo Montero as Albrecht; Ernesto Diaz as Hilarion and Estefania Hernandez as Queen of the Wilis.

Anette Delgado and Dani Hernandez, as Aurora and Desiré, will star in the scene of ‘Sleeping Beauty of the Forest’; and Sadaise Arencibia and Anyelo Montero will dance the pas de deux of the Sugar Plum Fairy and her Knight, in the selection of ‘The Nutcracker.’

Alianed Moreno and Luis Fernandez will play Swanilda and Franz in the pas de deux of ‘Coppélia’; while in the selection of ‘Don Quixote’, Chavela Riera and Yasiel Hodelin will play Kitri and Basilio; and Gabriela Druyet and Jorge Guerra, will be Mercedes and Espada, respectively.

The main roles in ‘Swan Lake’ will be played by Anette Delgado (Odette) and Dani Hernandez (Siegfried); and finally, in the finale of ‘Gottschalk Symphony’, all the dancers who have been on stage will perform.
