Cuba's health priority is seeking Covid-19 infection source

Havana, Jul 22 (Prensa Latina) Cuba's health system is currently immersed in detecting the largest number of Covid-19 cases to curb the spread of the pandemic, but sometimes to detect the source of infection is impossible in many patients with the virus.

During daily television press briefing, Dr. Francisco Duran, director of Epidemiology at the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP), states the way in which a person contracted the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, where and what the procedure will be with possible infections as of positive cases.

About the issue, the Cuban doctor has repeatedly said that when the source of infection is not specified, it is not known at the time of diagnosis, but it is investigated to explain the circumstances and find new suspects.

For this reason, the country implemented several population study strategies such as the so-called active investigation in which medical professors and students visit homes across the country asking if there is someone in the house with feverish or coronavirus-related symptoms.

Another of those measures adopted by the Cuban government was to make a virtual app freely available to users so that the population could self-examine and inform the authorities about their health condition.

With these actions, the so-called contact tracing used by health departments globally can be carried out in Cuba to prevent the spread of infectious diseases.
