The Cuban film "One Night with the Rolling Stones," directed by Patricia Ramos, has won the Audience Award at Serbia’s Ravno Selo Film Festival, the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (ICAIC) announced.
Alexis Triana, president of ICAIC, noted on his Facebook account that the festival featured 24 films from 13 countries, screened for an audience of approximately 7,000 viewers.
Written and directed by Patricia Ramos, the 92-minute film was produced by ICAIC and Mar y Cielo S.A. It features cinematography by Alexander González, editing by Kenia Velázquez, music by Magda Rosa Galbán and Juan Antonio Leyva, and sound design by Angie Hernández.
Earlier this year, "One Night with the Rolling Stones" was selected as the best fiction film released in Cuba in 2024 by the Cuban Association of Film Press (ACPC), the national branch of the International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI).
The film also earned the Best International Feature award at the Puerto Rico Film Festival in 2023, along with an Honorary Mention for Best Actress for Lola Amores. Additionally, it received a nomination for Best Sound (Angie Hernández) at the 12th Platino Awards for Ibero-American Cinema.
Set in Havana in 2016, the film follows the life of Rita (Lola Amores), a middle-aged woman navigating personal struggles, including her teenage son’s desire to emigrate and her elderly mother’s wish for a peaceful death. The story intertwines with Rita’s lifelong friend, a frustrated actress resisting aging, and a married lover she considers leaving for a new romance—all unfolding in the days leading up to the historic Rolling Stones concert in Havana.
