Abril Publishing House and the Cuban Book Institute (ICL) will present three issues of ZunZún magazine next Wednesday during the Book of the Month event—highlighting one of Cuba’s most iconic serial publications for children.

Since its inception in 1980, the magazine has offered young readers a wide range of learning experiences through sections featuring curiosities, advice, and stories starring animated characters, the ICL explained in a statement.

The event will take place as part of the 45th anniversary celebrations of both the publishing house and ZunZún, founded on October 10, 1980.

Two special editions and issue No. 368 will be showcased on October 15 as part of the Month of the Book. The publishing house noted on social media that the three issues are “designed for children who dream, create, and explore.”

“We grew up with the knowledge, characters, comics, and colors that this beloved magazine gave us. Our generation—and that of our parents and grandparents—owes it much. Hopefully, it will continue to soar higher, reaching new children who grow up with the magic of Cuban identity,” commented readers in celebration of the anniversary.

The presentation will be held on Calle Madera, in front of the Museum of the City (Palace of the Captains General), located in Old Havana, at 11:00 a.m. local time.

ZunZún is a Cuban children’s magazine aimed at primary school students. It blends reading entertainment with learning through comics featuring its hallmark characters—Claudia, Captain Plin, and Kukuy—along with sections of curiosities, historical articles, and games such as word searches and crosswords.
