Luanda, Jul 12 (Prensa Latina) Cubans in Angola on Monday denounced US attacks on their country, including appeals to domestic subversion and civil disobedience, amid Covid-19 and the tightening of the US blockade.

In different territories of this African nation, doctors, teachers, nurses, university professors, construction workers, diplomats and other members of the Cuban state mission carried out emotional acts in favor of their homeland.

Gathered in their respective work groups, they shared their opinions on a recent speech in Havana by President Miguel Diaz-Canel, who characterized the destabilizing attempts against this Caribbean nation.

Along with the economic, commercial and financial blockade, Washington orchestrates media campaigns to discredit the work and the international example of the Cuban Revolution, with the help of mercenaries paid by US agencies, the Cuban workers in Angola analyzed here.

Ambassador Esther Armenteros said that the attacks have had well-defined purposes for many years now, but neither before nor now nor in the future will they be able to achieve their ends.

On April 6, 1960, Lester D. Mallory, then Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Inter-American Affairs, set forth these mean goals in a secret US State Department memorandum, she said.

That document supported US decision to 'cause hunger, desperation and the overthrow of the government based on the recognition that there is no real opposition in Cuba,' the diplomat said.
