Cuban women’s softball team will be training in Colombia

Havana, Aug 16 (Prensa Latina) The Cuban women's softball team, with 10 athletes recruited in Colombia, will carry out a training camp in that South American country until the 24th, an official source announced here today.
It should be very beneficial for the Pan American Championship in Guatemala, a competition that gives us the qualification for all the events of the current cycle, the president of the national federation of the discipline, Juan Reinaldo Perez said on Twitter.
The competition in Colombia, from November 12 to 19, will grant one of the four slots for the 2023 World Championship and one of the five for the Central American and Caribbean Games in El Salvador and the Pan American Games in Santiago de Chile. The Cuban team, led by coach Jorge Lamas, is made up of 16 players, who in Guatemala will face the strong squads of the United States, first in the world ranking, Canada (third), Mexico (fourth) and Puerto Rico (fifth).
The Cuban women’s softball team, whose record includes a seventh-place finish at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, is ranked 30th, according to the latest update of the universal 2021 closing list.
