The quintet of Cuban saxophone player Ariel Bringuez presents the musician's latest project Nostalgia Cubana in the Sofia Live Club on December 1, the organizers of the concert, Jazz+, said.

Nostalgia Cubana is the inner call of the musician's soul who wants to show a more intimate, inward-looking Cuba, one which a person has to approach to hear its call.

Performing with Bringuez will be Javier Sanchez (guitar), Pablo Gutierrez (piano), Ruben Carles (double bass) and Federico Marini (drums).

With music from different regions of Cuba by composers such as Eliseo Grenet, Bola de Nieve, Cachaito Lopez, Juanito Marquez, Miguel Matamoros, Bringuez takes the audience on a personal journey to his carefree childhood in his native Cuba, which he looks back on nostalgically, immersed in happiness. The musician calls it Cuban, but in it everyone can recognize and find their own childhood.

Bringuez makes his own arrangements of the familiar songs and dresses them in the more danceable Afro-Cuban rhythms, beautiful Bolero, Danzon or the distinguished "Filin Cubano". Nostalgia Cubana recreates the resounding atmosphere of Cuba in the 1950s, recollecting and nourishing it with the perceptions of life here and now. This is music and playing that continually evokes passion as the essence of the human being.

Bringuez is a saxophonist and composer from Santa Clara, Cuba, who already has three Grammy Awards for his work on the albums Tributo a Irakere: live in Marciac (2017) by Chucho Valdes and El Tren de los momentos (2009) of Alejandro Sanz, as well as for his duet with Ivan "Melon" Luis "Voyager" (2021). Bringuez has released several albums as a headliner and has played with the likes of Tata Guines, Bobby Carcasses, David Murray, Paquito D'Rivera, Perico Sambeat, Ketama, and Simply Red.
