Cuban Prime Minister Urges Fulfillment of Public Commitments in Holguín

"Now is not the time for empty promises; we must match efforts with tangible results," declared Manuel Marrero Cruz, Prime Minister of Cuba, during a Provincial Government Council meeting in Holguín on [date].

Held at the Expo Holguín fairgrounds, the gathering brought together municipal mayors and People's Power Assembly presidents to analyze priority issues including food production, energy matrix transformation, water access, and budget deficits.

"Public commitments require concrete action plans as responses to social demands," stressed Marrero, who also serves on the Communist Party of Cuba's Political Bureau. "We must set clear objectives and work systematically toward them, even amid current challenges."

While acknowledging municipalities with untapped productive potential, the Prime Minister criticized persistent inefficiencies in local administrations, calling for rigorous oversight to optimize resources.

Key provincial updates presented included:

• Three municipalities (Holguín, Banes, Moa) currently operating with budget surpluses

• Three synchronized photovoltaic parks (Corúa, Pilón, Providencia) contributing to the national grid

• Over 65 active international cooperation projects

• Exceeded targets in spring and winter agricultural campaigns

Governor Manuel Francisco Hernández reported a 7.2 infant mortality rate per 1,000 live births and 19.6% adolescent pregnancy rate, alongside ongoing renovations of elder care facilities and construction of childcare centers.

Local success stories emerged, including Cacocum's drought mitigation through the "Water for My Family" initiative and expanded exports of charcoal, buffalo meat, and cheese. Moa representatives highlighted retail sector growth and development of an export hub leveraging its industrial port, mining operations, and university.

During his visit, Marrero inspected socioeconomic projects including:

• El Cedral agricultural farm in Cacocum

• Holguín City's Social Rehabilitation Center for unhoused individuals, where he emphasized compassionate care protocols

The Prime Minister was accompanied by Joel Queipo Ruiz, PCC Central Committee member and provincial first secretary, along with other government and party officials.
