Havana, Jan 11 (Prensa Latina) Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel on Wednesday praised his country's progress in domestic Covid-19 immunization thanks to homegrown vaccine development.

On Twitter, the Cuban leader recalled that as many as 47 million Soberana and Abdala vaccine doses -developed by the Finlay Institute of Vaccines (IFV) and the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (CIGB) – have been so far applied nationwide.

We´re among the first nations in Covid-19 immunization, thanks to the Public Health Ministry (MINSAP) and BioCubaFarma Business Group, President Díaz-Canel live-tweeted.

Cuba’s homegrown Covid-19 vaccines have a high efficacy and safety in clinical trials, complying with international standards, and are successfully applied in a dozen countries.

Cuba was the first country to immunize children against Covid-19.

Recently, prestigious journal Lancet Regional Health Americas published the Soberana 02 and Soberana Plus phase three clinical trial results.
