Havana, Aug 19 (Prensa Latina) Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel will accompany today the people of the city of Matanzas in the tribute to those who died in the fire of great proportions in the western city. This was communicated by the president through his Twitter account, who reiterated that the people of Matanzas will pay a heartfelt tribute this day to those who died in the control and extinguishing of the fire.

In another message, the head of state stressed that “with the open wounds” for the loss of 16 lives and after the heroic extinguishing of the fire, it is necessary to begin to reverse the material damages. We are working hard and tirelessly, he stressed.

On the same platform, the Presidency of Cuba said that today will be a day “of immense pain and infinite admiration for those who joined in the actions to extinguish the fire, attended to the injured in medical institutions, helped whoever was needed and participated in the expert work in the area of the incident”.

Authorities and institutions of the island also sent their condolences and wished “eternal glory” to these heroes, “worthy sons of the homeland”.

In the Firemen’s Museum of Matanzas, from 10:00 to 18:00 local time this August 19, relatives, friends, colleagues and residents will be able to pay tribute to the victims.
