President Miguel Díaz-Canel called for an end to the genocide being perpetrated by Israel, in collaboration with the United States, against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.

On his X account, Díaz-Canel urged to meet the demands of the new resolution of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) “to stop the barbarity in Gaza immediately.

We demand peace for Palestine, the head of State wrote on the same platform.

On Tuesday, the UN General Assembly approved the resolution for a ceasefire in Gaza with 153 votes in favor, 10 against, and 23 abstentions.

The text, submitted earlier to the Security Council, calls for an immediate humanitarian solution, a ceasefire, the unconditional release of hostages, and further humanitarian access.

While the endorsement in the forum does not make the text binding, the support confirms most of the member states’ position to end the conflict, a call UN Secretary-General António Guterres also made.

More than 18,000 people have been killed, and 49,645 have been injured since the beginning of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip on October 7.
