Cuban PM urges authorities to boost housing construction

Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero on Monday urged domestic authorities to increase construction material production nationwide so as to substitute imports and ensure compliance the country´s National Housing Plan.
Making conclusions of the Construction Ministry (MICONS)´s 2023 balance, Marrero described MICONS´ support as vital.
In this regard, Marrero recognized projects being rolled out to substitute imports with domestic raw materials, an assignment that should continue to be analyzed in a comprehensive manner and generalized in municipalities.
He also reiterated to seek urgent solutions to advance in the Housing Program, such as using the vaulted ceiling technique, the Cuban News Agency (ACN) reported.
At the meeting, it was learned that MICONS will prioritize construction services in 2023 to start up cement factories in Nuevitas and Santiago de Cuba, and conclude the assembly of the José Martí Steel Company.
In this regard, the Commander of the Revolution Ramiro Valdés, deputy prime minister, called for these two plants´ investment recovery.
