The president of the Cuban Institute for Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), Fernando González, denounced today that Venezuela is suffering a direct military aggression from the United States, an unprecedented escalation against Latin American sovereignty.

Before hundreds of Havana residents gathered at the Anti-Imperialist Tribunal, González condemned the attack perpetrated in the early hours of January 3 by the United States government against Venezuela.

The also Hero of the Republic described the aggression as "cowardly and vile," and emphasized that it is not an isolated event, but an escalation in the prolonged economic, media, diplomatic, and now openly military war that Washington has deployed with the aim of subduing a sovereign people and destroying the Bolivarian Revolution.

"This military aggression transcends Venezuelan borders. It constitutes a direct attack on the pillars of International Law, on the principle of self-determination of peoples, and on the historic aspiration of Latin America and the Caribbean to consolidate itself as a Zone of Peace," he stated.

The ICAP president denounced that the bombings against Caracas and other regions of the country expose those who promote terror, while actions of abduction, piracy in the Caribbean, and systematic human rights violations against migrants reveal "the fascist nature" of the administration occupying the White House.

He indicated that the armed offensive responds to the application of the "Trump Corollary" to the Monroe Doctrine, aimed at appropriating Venezuela's natural resources and those of the entire region.

Faced with this scenario, he reiterated unwavering solidarity with the "heroic and brave Venezuelan people" and backed the demand of Venezuela's Executive Vice President, Delcy Rodríguez, for the US government to provide "proof of life" for President Nicolás Maduro Moros and his wife, Cilia Flores.

On behalf of ICAP, he urgently called for a worldwide mobilization for peace and unity in the face of the imperial onslaught and appealed to solidarity organizations, social movements, peace defenders, and conscious individuals worldwide to denounce the ongoing aggression and exert pressure to stop the impunity of the US government.

"Venezuela today is humanity's cause. Supporting our Venezuelan brothers and sisters is defending our right to peace," he concluded.

For her part, Belinda Sánchez, on behalf of the Cuban scientific community, expressed her firmest repudiation of the military attack perpetrated by the US government against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

"We Cuban scientists who work for life, who dedicate our days to saving lives and producing medicines, cannot feel anything other than horror and rejection towards those who produce death and pain," stated Sánchez at the Anti-Imperialist Tribunal.

She denounced the attack as an "act of state terrorism" and described it as an aggression not only against Venezuela but against all of Latin America.

She warned that the offensive against Venezuela could extend to Cuba, Nicaragua, Mexico, or other countries of the Global South that defend their sovereignty or possess natural resources. "Fascist imperialism respects neither International Law, nor life, nor the independence of peoples," she stated.
