Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel and Prime Minister Manuel Marrero presided over the usual meeting with the temporary working group for the prevention and control of the new coronavirus in Cuba at the Palace of the Revolution.

As part of the detailed evaluation that the Cuban government carries out every afternoon to face the pandemic and minimize its effects on the national territory, this Tuesday the Minister of Public Health José Ángel Portal Miranda updated on the international situation and the behavior of this disease in Cuba, where 1,437 patients have been diagnosed with the virus.

He stressed that the special municipality Isle of Youth continues to be the territory with the highest rate of incidence of the disease per 100,000 inhabitants, followed by Havana, Villa Clara, Ciego de Avila, Matanzas and Sancti Spíritus.  Meanwhile, he said that there are still 104 municipalities with confirmed cases, where the highest figure is Santa Clara, with 117 positive samples.

Thie minister of health said 39 local transmission events remain active in 12 provinces, which are in 29 municipalities and the Isle of Youth.  When detailing the number of events, Portal Miranda said that Havana is the one with the highest number with 12; followed by Ciego de Avila and Holguín with four each; Villa Clara and Sancti Spíritus with three each; while Matanzas, Camagüey, Santiago de Cuba, Pinar del Río and the Special Municipality of Isla de la Juventud report two each, and Artemisa, Mayabeque and Guantánamo with one each.
