Moscow, Mar 19 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Yunior Reytor advanced on Friday to the 64th round of Kazan's Fencing World Cup, on his way to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

Cuba's main male fencer will meet Japanese Yohito Masuda in this phase, after beating Austrian Alexander Biro, 15-11, and overcoming an elimination pool with a balance of three wins and three defeats.

In the first match, Reytor defeated American Dennis Kraft, 5-2; Belgian Marc Housieaux, 4-2, and Austrian Jan Schuhmann, 5-4; meanwhile, he was defeated by Hungarian Tamas Koch, 5-4; Polish Mateusz Nycz, 5-1, and Russian Pavel Sukhov, 5-4.

Number two in America and 40 in the world ranking, the Cuban will compete next Sunday to improve his results in Kazan after not practicing fencing for several months due to Covid-19.

The other Cuban in competition at the Kazan Expo International Exhibition Center, Yamilka Rodriguez, will make her debut tomorrow in pool number 24 together with French Melissa Goram, Russian Polina Khaertdinova, Japanese Miho Yoshimura, Kassaja Kamilia Abdyl-Khamitova, Senegalese Ndeye Binta Diongue and Greek Fani Varveri.
