Cuban bartenders showed great skill in the Flair or Freestyle cocktail-making mode during a competition in this capital that contributes to the recovery of tourism, spokesmen said today.

The jury of the contest was presided over by bartender Alejandro Fleites, who expressed his satisfaction on Thursday for the boom of this activity, which is internationally renowned.

He said that a true demonstration of strength, skill, acrobatics and mastery of bar accessories and equipment was the result of the flair-tending cocktail competition, Volume Five, held at the Ley Seca restaurant-bar, located on Havana Street, on the corner of Obrapía, in the Historic Center of the city.

Fleites, a professor and member of the Cuban Bartenders Association (ACC), said that the meeting brought together five bartenders passionate about this modality. The first-place winner was bartender Reynaldo Sanchez, who works at the Polinesio restaurant-bar of the Tryp Habana Libre Hotel.

This modality is relevant because it is widespread all over the world and Cuban experts are gaining more and more importance in it, to be able to shine in competitions at a global level in the future, he said.
