Holguín, Cuba, Aug 2 (Prensa Latina) Deputies to Cuba´s National Assembly of People's Power (ANPP, in Spanish) on Tuesday recognized how important the Family Code is to contemporary society.

The Chair of the Academy of Sciences Luis Velázquez stressed this legal text “strengthens family responsibility from emotional, educational, training and economic standpoint to look after different families.”

Mr. Velázquez recognized the new document “protects the rights of children, adolescents, older adults and also includes a title referring to disabled people´s protection.”

The new Family Code will be an instrument “to wipe out any type of exclusion in society, but, in addition, it will promote self-determination, preferences, and equal opportunities in family life,” PhD. Velázquez added.

Young Deputy Daimara Reyes, on the other hand, told the local press that “sometimes, we just have to stop for a moment in everyday life to realize about our diverse world and also about many life stories of those around.”
