The Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) called this Saturday for the holding of its Ninth Congress, from April 16th to the 19th, 2026 -- a conclave that will continue the country's development strategy.

The call, issued at the 10th Plenary Session of the political organization, reaffirms that the Party will focus its attention on finding appropriate solutions to the island's economic situation, based on the actions outlined in the Government Program to correct distortions and boost the economy.

For this meeting, the PCC defined the following as unavoidable priorities: increasing national production with an emphasis on food; ways to increase foreign currency earnings and the recovery of the National Electric Power System.

In addition, the need to strengthen socialist state enterprises, achieve macroeconomic stability, and maintain an adequate relationship between the state and non-state sectors; reduce inflation; and increase the participation of foreign investment, efficiency, and savings were highlighted.

The organization also proposed to continue promoting the management of science and innovation, social communication, and digital transformation for the development of society, "which has committed to further perfecting socialist and participatory democracy on the path to achieving all possible justice."

"The Communist Party of Cuba, a follower of Martí, Fidelista and Marxist-Leninist, as the guiding political force of society, has the responsibility to guide the people, mobilizing them to produce, develop, and create," the call emphasized.

Likewise, the PCC is working to achieve results that will, in the shortest possible time, improve the living conditions of the population, provide solid support for the social advances achieved by the Revolution, and reduce the social gap that has emerged in recent years due to extreme pressure from the United States.

The Congress process, the text stated, will be an ideal opportunity to debate the Party's role in strengthening revolutionary values, knowledge of the nation's history, culture, and identity.

It added that political, media, and community communication, political-ideological work, crime prevention and combating, as well as the role of youth organizations and movements in political processes will also be discussed.

Prior to the event, a broad consultation process will be held on the documents to be presented, which will include Party members, political and administrative leadership structures, and mass, social and student organizations.

The ninth Congress of the PCC will pay tribute to several of the Caribbean nation's heroes and will be held in the year that commemorates the centennial of the birth of Fidel Castro, the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution.
