Prime Minister Manuel Marrero stated today that Cuban authorities are working hard on the recovery of the National Electroenergetic System.

During his address, he highlighted that, amid complex financial conditions, $1.15 billion has been allocated.

This has allowed for the recovery of 422 MW in distributed generation—exceeding 1,000 MW total—and another 228 MW in centralized generation.

Furthermore, 778 MW have been synchronized through the installation of 41 solar photovoltaic parks, which manage to produce over 30 percent of the country's total generation during peak irradiation hours.

"Despite the work carried out, the situation of the national electroenergetic system remains very complex, with a daily average deficit of 1,500 to 1,700 MW.

In recent days, the deficit has exceeded 2,000 MW, which causes disruptions to the service for 24 hours, heightening public dissatisfaction and damaging the economy," he noted.

He similarly pointed out that the deficit is primarily due to instability in power generation and a lack of fuel for distributed generation, with approximately 1,000 MW of capacity unavailable for this reason.
