The Cuban Association of the United Nations (ACNU) today condemned the military aggression perpetrated by the United States government against Venezuela, labeling it a flagrant violation of International Law.

In a statement, the organization rejected Washington's attacks against the Bolivarian nation and emphasized that they violate the purposes enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations.

"The criminal US military aggression endangers international peace and security, particularly in Latin America and the Caribbean," the text warned.

The ACNU stated that the abduction of Venezuela's constitutional President, Nicolás Maduro, and his wife constitutes an extremely grave act that must also receive worldwide condemnation.

Furthermore, it demanded that the United Nations Security Council immediately exercise the functions and responsibilities conferred upon it by the Charter of the Organization and act to preserve peace.

"We know this will be a great challenge, as the aggressor state is one of its five permanent members and enjoys the manipulated and unpopular right to veto. Once again, we reiterate the urgent need for reform of this principal organ of the United Nations," the organization emphasized.

The ACNU called on international organizations, peace-loving individuals, and defenders of International Law and the UN Charter to raise their voices, condemn the aggression against the Venezuelan people, and demand proof of life for President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores.

In the early hours of this morning, the Venezuelan government denounced the attack on military and civilian sites and accused Washington of a flagrant violation of International Law and the UN Charter.
