Havana, Sep 15 (Prensa Latina) Cuban First Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment (Mincex) Ana Teresita Gonzalez thanked the Government of Namibia on Thursday for a food donation to the public healthcare system.

The contribution will be used to fight Covid-19, as well as for those injured at the Saratoga Hotel in Havana and the Supertanker Base in the western Matanzas province, Gonzalez said.

She added that this gesture is an expression of solidarity and friendship from the Government and people of Namibia, and confirms our unbreakable friendship, as well as both countries’ will to broaden and deepen bilateral ties.

The difficult international situation resulting from Covid-19 had a direct impact on the economies of our countries, she pointed out, but in the case of Cuba, it is aggravated by the illegal economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States, which affects the rights of more than 11 million Cubans.

For his part, Namibian Ambassador to Cuba Samuel Goagoseb recalled that for decades Cuba has been a bastion of solidarity in many areas such as the medical brigades deployed around the world.

Namibia is aware of the harsh economic conditions of the Cuban people caused by the inhumane unilateral economic blockade imposed by the United States on the revolutionary island.

Therefore, the Namibian Government reiterates the need for the immediate lifting of this policy against Cuba.
