Cuba reports the second highest number of daily cases of covid-19 with 1,372

Cuba registered 1,372 new cases of covid-19 this Saturday, the second highest number of daily infections reported since the beginning of the pandemic in March of last year, reported the Ministry of Public Health ( Minsap).

The absolute record of cases in a day is May 15, when 1,383 patients were reported.

The country already accumulates 156,238 positives to SARS-Cov-2 and 1,075 deaths, 10 of them registered on the day, added the Minsap in the daily report on the health situation.

Of the 1,372 infections today, diagnosed by processing 20,720 samples, 31 had the source of infection abroad.

28,944 people are admitted to Cuban hospitals and isolation centers: 6,375 active cases -47 in critical condition and 98 serious-, 5,197 with suspicious symptoms and the rest under epidemiological surveillance.

By provinces, Havana concentrated the highest number of cases of the day with 452, followed by the eastern Santiago de Cuba (184) and the central Ciego de Ávila (110).

In risk territories, including Havana, a health intervention study is applied with Abdala and Soberana 02, the two most advanced vaccine candidates of the five developed by Cuba.

More than a million Cubans, out of a population of 11 million inhabitants, have received at least one dose of these formulas as part of clinical trials and intervention studies that are carried out in parallel with the health system, according to official data.
