Cuba received 68 tons of rice in the first of six shipments donated by the People's Republic of China.

Cuban Deputy Prime Minister Jorge Luis Tapia Fonseca confirmed that this lot is part of the 20,408 tons of the grain to be sent to the island during 2024 as a sign of China’s long-lived feelings of friendship for the Cuban people and the common commitment of both countries to cooperation, peace and development, bound to be strengthened in the International Conference of Socialist and Developing Countries.

Luo Zhaohui, president of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), praised the fraternal bond between both nations for the benefit of socialism and said that the Chinese people and government are proud of Cuba’s progress.

Representatives of the China International Cooperation Center for Economic and Technical Exchange and of the Cuban enterprise ALIMPORT signed the Certificate of Delivery of additional goods included in the project to provide food assistance to Cuba.
