Cuba Faces Puerto Rico Today in Men's U19 Volleyball World Championship

The Cuban men's team will face Puerto Rico today in pursuit of a victory that would secure them 17th place at the U19 Volleyball World Championship, held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

After defeating Turkey 3-0 (25-22, 25-18, 25-21) on Friday in the battle for 17th to 20th place, the Cuban squad will aim to overcome Puerto Rico, who previously defeated Colombia 3-1 (25-17, 24-26, 25-20, 25-21) with the same objective.

In Saturday's matches, France will take on Iran, and Poland will face Spain in the semifinals, while South Korea meets Bulgaria, and Italy clashes with Finland in the playoffs for 5th to 8th place.

Other matchups include Brazil vs. Belgium and China vs. Argentina in the race for 9th to 12th place, as well as Pakistan vs. the United States and Uzbekistan vs. Japan for positions 13th to 16th.

Rounding out the schedule are the following matches: Turkey vs. Colombia (19th-20th), Tunisia vs. Egypt (21st-22nd), and Algeria vs. Canada (23rd-24th).

Cuba finished sixth in Group D, without any wins and only one point, in a pool led by Finland (5-14), followed by South Korea (3-10), Brazil (3-9), the United States (2-5), and Colombia (1-3).

Group A was topped by Pakistan (4-13), followed by Belgium (4-11), Argentina (4-11), Uzbekistan (2-6), Turkey (1-4), and Puerto Rico (0-0). Meanwhile, Group B was led by Bulgaria (4-12) and France (4-12), with China (4-11), Japan (2-7), Algeria (1-3), and Canada (0-0) trailing behind.

Italy (4-13) dominated Group C, ahead of Spain (4-11), Iran (3-9), Poland (3-9), Egypt (1-3), and Tunisia (0-0).
