The Cuban Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, expressed his nation's sorrow over the aftermath of the recent floods in Nigeria.

On the platform X, Rodríguez extended his sympathies to the government and people of Nigeria for the loss of hundreds of lives, the disappearance of many individuals, and the significant economic setbacks resulting from the devastating floods in the western regions of the country.

The heavy rainfall that fell over the area during Wednesday and Thursday of the past week, has resulted in the death of at least 200 people and the displacement of approximately three thousand, as well as significant economic losses.

The authorities in Mokwa, a town located more than 350 kilometers from Abuja, the capital of Nigeria, have announced that rescue efforts have been halted due to the belief that there are no survivors.

The efforts are now focused on unearthing corpses from the debris to prevent the spread of illnesses.
