The current US government continues today without righting over 200 punitive measures against Cuba, assured here the director of the Center for International Policy Research (CIPI), Jose Ramon Cabañas.

On Facebook, the Cuban academic recalled that 55 of those actions taken by the former Trump government are currently in force and were decided amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

An article by Cabañas refers that all those measures were intended to provoke the collapse of Cuban society.

'None of those have been righted and 100 days into the current administration it is worth asking whether the philosophy of those measures is ultimately shared,' the former Cuban ambassador to Washington questioned.

Cabañas acknowledged that President Joe Biden during the presidential campaign explicitly said he was against causing such harm to the people of Cuba. 'But so did Trump before 2016; however, he later changed his position under the influence of the Florida vote-mongers,' he underscored.

The expert pointed out that there are repeated calls from US civil society, Congress, NGOs and other institutions, regarding the revision of the policy towards Cuba.
