Cuba declares official mourning for former Chinese president's death
Havana, November 30 (RHC)-- On the occasion of the death of former General Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party and former president of the People's Republic of China Jiang Zemin, the President of the Republic of Cuba agreed to decree Official Mourning from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 1st.
The former president of China contributed to the promotion and integral development of the close ties of friendship and cooperation between our countries, which made him worthy of the "José Martí" Order.
In 1993, he was the only head of state to visit us after the disappearance of the socialist camp and the intensification of the blockade, an invaluable gesture of brotherhood and confidence in our country's ability to successfully overcome that difficult moment.
During the period of official mourning, the Cuban shall be flown at half-mast at public buildings and military institutions.
