Casa de las Americas, Cuba's best-known and most prestigious cultural institution, is organizing the workshop "Create to Learn: Moving Inclusion," a project of its library that currently focuses on children and teenagers with special educational needs and their families.

The initiative, which will be held on Friday, is open to schools of general education located in the Havana neighborhood of Vedado.

One of the objectives is to transform the library into a diverse space for participants while promoting interest in reading and the development of values and emotions.

This time, participants will tell the story “Leidy, la jirafa diferente” (Leidy, the different Giraffe) by an Ecuadorian girl. Later, they will create a book with recycled materials to raise awareness about the need to recycle to achieve environmental sustainability.

Casa de las Americas has been developing the workshop for several years with the support of Orlando Terre, who is the President of the World Association of Special Education, of the Organization for Education, Stimulation and Child Development, and the INFANCIAR Foundation.
