The popular exercise Meteoro 2025, which strengthens the nation's readiness and response capabilities to face natural, technological and health disasters, will conclude today in Cuba.
Yesterday, the president of the National Defense Council (CDN) and of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel, checked the measures updating in the face of events of various kinds that frequently hit the Caribbean island.
Accompanied by the chief of the National Civil Defense General Staff (Emndc), Major General Ramón Pardo, and other high-ranking officials of the country, the president specified by videoconference with provincial leaders urgent and necessary aspects to protect lives and material resources.
During the exercise, Pardo urged to check whether the measures foreseen in the disaster risk reduction plans are being complied with, “emphasizing prevention, which will make it possible to increase the capacity of actions, response and recovery and to minimize losses”, he said.
As part of Meteoro 2025, the president of the CDN participated in a fire extinguishing exercise carried out in areas of the Yuri Gagarin Industrial Military Enterprise.
