Havana, Dec 12 (Prensa Latina) Cuba on Monday reaffirmed its commitment to contribute to universal health coverage by sharing its experiences with other nations.

We reaffirm our willingness to share our experiences with other nations as a pathway of contributing to universal health coverage for all, a policy that can provide a higher level of equality worldwide, the Cuban Public Health Minister Jose Angel Portal stated.

Universal Health Coverage Day is celebrated every December 12, a date on which countries were urged to provide affordable and quality healthcare to all people around the world, Portal stressed.

Cuba’s breakthroughs in this regard are a clear example of the equality of the National Health System and the social justice of the Revolution, which championed health care as every citizen´s right from the very beginning, he added.

The Covid-19 pandemic has shown the world terrible cost of not having been able to achieve the long-awaited goal of universal health care for all, with access to medical care and resilient health systems ahead of emergencies.

Now more than ever, in order to improve people´s health conditions, scientific and technical breakthroughs must be in line with true development, he said.
