Cuba is celebrating on Wednesday the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer by rewarding the work carried out by 12 institutions in the definitive removal of pollutants in the Earth's stratosphere.

The national recognition to those Cuban entities that managed to reduce use of ozone depleting substances was granted by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment (CITMA).

On this International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer, the Cuban Ozone Technical Office at the Center for Information Management and Energy Development attached to the Nuclear Energy and Advanced Technologies Agency at CITMA also celebrates its 25 years of its founding.

The Cuban Ozone Technical Office advises national companies to implement actions to eliminate harmful substances to the ozone layer.

With the slogan 'Ozone For Life', the world is commemorating today the 35th anniversary of the Vienna Convention, held in Austria, where 28 countries decided to establish a cooperation mechanism in order to take measures to protect the ozone layer.
