Havana, February 23 (RHC)-- Cuba's Minister of Higher Education, José Ramón Saborido, advocated on Monday for stimulating the development of virtual experiences that promote humanist values in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Speaking by teleconference at the meeting of education ministers of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-People's Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP), the official pointed out the need to take advantage of new information and communication technologies to expand solidarity.

At the meeting, the Minister of Education, Ena Elsa Velázquez, presented the achievements of Cubaeduca, a platform that guarantees education to young children amid the Covid-19 pandemic, ALBA-TCP reported on Twitter.

The meeting ratified the need to forge alliances to face the challenges imposed by the complex regional health situation in education and the willingness to continue working on the fulfillment of the agreements adopted in that area.

They also addressed issues related to implementing the post-pandemic work plan for 2021, approved by the heads of state and government at the XVIII Summit of the bloc, held on December 14, 2020.

Other ministers, vice-heads, and authorities of the alliance created by revolutionary leaders Hugo Chávez (Venezuela) and Fidel Castro (Cuba) to promote regional integration based on solidarity, complementarity, justice, and cooperation participated in the meeting.
