Contemporary Cuban Dance, directed by maestro Miguel Iglesias, will begin its next season on Friday, April 18, at Avellaneda Hall of the National Theater, with a program that brings together two outstanding revivals of its recent repertoire. Performances will continue on Saturday, April 19, at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, April 20, at 5:00 p.m.

The program includes Consagración, by French choreographers Christophe Béranger and Jonathan Pranlas, a work based on Nijinsky's celebrated ballet The Rite of Spring with music by Stravinsky. This production recaptures the ritual force of the original to undertake a profound exploration of Cuban identity, articulating tradition and contemporaneity.

The other offering is Purple Fools, by Italian Mauro de Candia, a piece that delves into the great classical tradition from a playful and irreverent perspective. In a critical and festive tone, the choreography establishes a lighthearted dialogue with the audience, demystifying codes with a unique sense of humor.

With this season, Contemporary Cuban Dance reaffirms its commitment to approaching the great universal heritage from a refreshing perspective, keeping the vitality that has distinguished it since its origin. With more than 65 years of experience, the company, founded by Ramiro Guerra, is considered the mother of the modern dance movement in Cuba.
