Clacso debates aggressions against Cuba and emancipatory challenges

Mexico City, Jun 9 (Prensa Latina) The IX Latin American Conference of Social Sciences (Clacso) is holding the forum Cuba between aggressions and emancipatory challenges with the participation of numerous academics from the island.

The forum will take place in the Aula Magna of the Faculty of Economics of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) as part of the theme Dynamics and new forms of cooperation of the Global South of this conference in which 10,000 academics from all over the continent are participating.

The morning session is dedicated to the discussion of papers related to the emancipatory project of the Cuban Revolution: challenges of transformation, moderated by Ramón Pichs Madruga, from the World Economy Research Center.

The speakers are José Luis Rodríguez, Carola Salas, both from the Research Center, Antonio Aja, from the Center for Demographic Studies of the University of Havana, and Armando Fernández Soriano, environmentalist.

The second part will be moderated by Jusmary Gómez, seconded by Javier Gómez, both from the Center for Psychological and Sociological Research, and the speakers are Mariela Castro, director of the National Center for Sex Education of Cuba, Luis Alain De La Noval, María del Carmebn Zabala, both from the University of Havana.

Cuba will also be at the center of the debate in the panel Science, technology and society: challenges of knowledge and evaluation. They will discuss the implementation of quality research evaluation policies in open science contexts.
