Beijing, Jan 13 (Prensa Latina) Representatives of China and the United States spoke separately on economic-commercial issues and fighting climate change, complying with the consensus reached by their presidents last November, official sources confirmed.

The ministries linked to both sectors reported that the meetings were held via video conference and encouraged the exchange of views on the challenges in each area.

According to an official dispatch, the respective envoys of Beijing and Washington for climate change, Xie Zhenhua and John Kerry, talked on Wednesday about promoting multilateral efforts to deal with the issue and agreed to maintain further contacts.

Another statement specified that the Minister of Commerce, Wang Wentao, spoke on Thursday with Craig Allen, the president of the China-United States business council, and also reviewed issues of interest for the two countries in the commercial field, damaged by additional fees and export restrictions.

These meetings are an addition to the reactivated contacts between senior officials of the two governments after the leaders Xi Jinping and Joe Biden spoke face to face in Bali, Indonesia, in mid-November last year, and agreed on the needs to improve bilateral ties.
