Georgetown, Jul 20 (Prensa Latina) The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) reiterated its demand for an immediate end to the commercial, financial and economic sanctions imposed on Cuba, in a statement published on the regional organization's website on Tuesday.

In these terms, the Caribbean bloc recalled the ongoing demand at the United Nations General Assembly against the economic, commercial and financial blockade established imposed by the United States on Cuba for more than 60 years.

The press release notes that the regional integration group has taken note of 'the protests taking place in Cuba caused by socioeconomic challenges, further aggravated by the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic and the impact of natural hazards'.

In that regard, it calls for an end to violence and vandalism and the return to calm and peaceful dialogue.

Last May, a meeting of CARICOM's Council on Foreign and Community Relations (COFCOR) ratified its concern that the US blockade will have a significant adverse impact on Cuba's socioeconomic development and the people's well being.
