Broad agenda and active Cuban participation in Flacso Uruguay forum

Montevideo, Nov 17 (Prensa Latina) The Fifth Latin American and Caribbean Congress of Social Sciences continues here with a broad agenda for debate and with the slogan 'democracy, justice and equality'.

It is convened by the Latin American and Caribbean Faculty of Social Sciences (Flacso), which brings together academics from 18 countries through its affiliated teaching units. This entity is celebrating its 65 years of research work and contributions.

Dialogues on violence and peace, capitalism, digitalisation and society in Latin America,social inequalities and knowledge as capital, are the themes of this day.

On the opening day, Cuba was very active, as stated to Prensa Latina by Marta Rosa Muñoz, PhD in Educational Sciences, director of Flacso in the Caribbean island.

She participated in the panel on Social Sciences and Climate Change. There she presented the experiences for risk management in adaption and mitigation projects in Cuba.she also explained about the support provided by Social Sciences to the work of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment and to the Cuban Environment Agency in the face of climate change.

It is a whole government program called Tarea Vida, in which various institutions and people participate, Marta explained.

In turn, Dr. Geydis Fundora participated together with colleagues from the region in the preparation of FLACSO’s III Regional Report.

Other works of Cuban researchers are present in thematic axes and round tables and will be published in December by Flacso Uruguay as part of the proceedings of this forum, which concludes tomorrow.
