Bolivia thanks international rejection of OAS and US interference

Bolivia thanked the international rejection of interference actions in its internal affairs by the Organization of American States (OAS) and the United States, local media reported today.

Bolivian Information Agency reported that President Luis Arce thanked the declaration of support for Bolivia´s sovereign decisions signed by former presidents, former foreign ministers, Nobel Peace Prize Adolfo Pérez Esquivel, and other personalities.

'We thank former presidents, former foreign ministers and Latin American leaders for the Declaration of Support to Bolivia against the interference of OAS and the US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken in our internal affairs,' Arce live-tweeted.

The document strongly rejected the statements of the OAS Secretary-General Luis Almagro and the US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken regarding judicial process opened against former authorities of the de facto government for their responsibilities in the 2019 coup.

Arce also recalled on Twitter OAS´ direct responsibility in democracy and institutionalism breakdown by legitimizing the fraud narrative used as a pretext to achieve then-President Evo Morales´ resignation.

'In 2019 Bolivia suffered a coup d'état favored by Almagro and the OAS, leaving dead, hundreds of injured, imprisoned and politically-persecuted people. We demand respect for our democracy recovered in 2020 thanks to the resistance of the Bolivian people. Long live the Great Homeland!', Arce posted on Twitter.
