La Paz, Aug 21 (RHC) Bolivia's Foreign Minister, Rogelio Mayta, attended the farewell ceremony to a plane with humanitarian aid for victims of a major fire in Cuba from the airport of Viru-Viru, Santa Cruz.

"We are fulfilling an order from the President, Luis Arce, from the Vice President, David Choquehuanca, and the very sentiment of the Bolivian people," said the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The donation includes 62.3 tons of medicines, medical supplies, and foodstuffs.

Also in attendance were the Vice Minister of Defense Juan Carlos Calvimontes, the Vice Foreign Minister Eva Chuquimia, the Consul General of Cuba in Santa Cruz, Fakri Rodríguez, and the Presidential Coordinator in the Department of Santa Cruz, Eduardo Pereira, Mayta recalled the tragic consequences of the fire caused by a lightning strike.

The foreign minister emphasized that the event at the Viru Viru airport reaffirmed the bonds between the Cuban and Bolivian peoples.

In thanking the solidarity action, the Consul General of Cuba in Santa Cruz, Fakri Rodríguez, expressed that "the sister nation demonstrates with deeds its unwavering solidarity by donating medicines, medical supplies, food, and equipment."

Bolivia demonstrates that complementarity and mutual aid among peoples is the path to follow in times when exploitation, asymmetries, and aggressions try to undermine the very spirit of humanity, said Rodriguez.
