Barbadian authorities recognized the positive results of the pilot study with Biorat, a product developed by the biotechnological company Labiofam, from Cuba.
Representatives of several ministries and institutions of Barbados, and the United Nations World Food Fund Office, highlighted the results of a field trial, carried out in urban areas of this country, under the leadership of Labiofam researchers, in collaboration with local health authorities.
The success of this project demonstrates the potential of the links between the Cuban institution and Barbadian counterparts and strengthens the cooperation ties between both countries in the scientific and public health fields, authorities said.
Officials from the Ministries of Health and Welfare and Foreign Affairs, as well as from Barbados Foreign Trade, Export Barbados, members of the University of the West Indies (Cave Hill Campus) and diplomats from the Cuban Embassy in this Caribbean nation participated in the meeting.
Biorat is a Cuban biological rodenticide that has proven to be highly effective in pest control, as an ecological and sustainable alternative.
