The Argentinian State Workers Association (ATE) summoned on Tuesday a meeting of its National Board of Directors with the purpose of deepening the plan of struggle against layoffs in the public administration.
According to a press release from that organization, the encounter will take place on Thursday at 10:00, local time, in this capital city, which will be attended by the general secretaries of the 23 domestic provinces and the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires.
The leaders will analyze actions against the feasible 70,000 layoffs, as those people’s contracts expire at the end of March, and the Government has expressed its intentions of not renewing them.
The state employees have to deepen our plan of struggle and define measures of force that will allow us to avoid a scenario of massive layoffs, the Secretary General of ATE, Rodolfo Aguiar ensured.
In the last few hours, a “manual of dismissals” was published, detailing how to communicate and firing employees of all state agencies and dependencies. It indicates that the first communications would be verbal and would begin on March 26th, the union stated in a press release.
Meanwhile, Aguiar considered that it is not possible to wait until April to go on a new general strike.
Rights are being eliminated, jobs are being destroyed and the income of workers, retirees and popular sectors are being demolished. The labor unions must mull over to anticipate their call for a new national strike, he affirmed.
