Buenos Aires, Jun 4 (Prensa Latina) Representatives of the governments of Cuba and Argentina spoke today in this capital about cooperation in the agricultural sector and initiatives to guarantee food sovereignty.

As detailed in his profile on Twitter, the deputy chief of staff of this country, Jorge Neme, received the Cuban deputy prime minister, Jorge Luis Tapia, and the head of Agriculture, Ydael Pérez.

In addition, the first deputy minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, Ana Teresita González, and the island’s ambassador to Argentina, Pedro Pablo Prada, participated in the meeting.

We received a delegation from the Presidency of Cuba to review the cooperation agreement on agricultural matters. We have everything ready to collaborate with the Cuban food sovereignty plan through direct seeding methods, genetics and technology, Neme wrote on the social network.

We continue to strengthen collaboration, he added.

For its part, Prada pointed out that “intense, practical and frank work is being carried out between the two delegations to overcome difficulties and find solutions”.

In early May, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel received Neme in Havana and advocated strengthening relations with Argentina and promoting projects associated with agribusiness and food production, among other areas.

The two countries signed a Cooperation Agreement for Agricultural Development last January, with the aim of promoting food sovereignty on the island by increasing its productive capacity.
