Palestine denounced the plight of women in the occupied territories as a result of Israeli aggression and orders of forced displacement to which they are subjected.

To warn about the crisis, the Ministry of Women’s Affairs published a special report on the occasion of World Refugee Day.

According to the text, more than 1.1 million women live as refugees in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, and 1.8 million in camps in Jordan, Syria and Lebanon.

Some 700,000 are crowded in the coastal enclave, under Israeli fire since October 2023.

The paper reflected that unemployment rates among refugee women rose to 46,1% in the first quarter of 2025, up from 34,6% before the start of the conflict.

It noted that food expenses constitute approximately 35,6% of household income in the camps, reflecting the fragility of food security.

The Ministry recently released a report documenting the situation of women in the occupied territories, which it described as catastrophic and unprecedented.

Presenting the text, Minister Mona al-Khalili denounced “the magnitude of the health suffering faced by Palestinian women under occupation.”

The document is an open call to the international community to assume its legal and humanitarian responsibilities, she said.
