Alayo Was Immense in 2025

Jorge Luis Alayo has become one of the best beach volleyball players in the world. Since he began playing alongside Noslen Díaz, they have achieved significant victories and earned the respect of the sport's leading duos.

The year 2025 can be considered their breakthrough year, although they also showed flashes of their talent in 2024, especially at the Paris Olympic Games, where they even went undefeated in the qualifying phase and were only defeated by the eventual champions.

Recently, the World Volleyball Tour ranked them 9th globally, despite not being one of the pairs with the most tournament appearances. Among the most important results of the year now concluding are their tournament victory in Quintana Roo and their four championship titles in the Russian league.

In 2026, they will aim to win their first Central American and Caribbean Games, following their surprising loss in the gold medal match at San Salvador 2023 to the Mexican pair of Juan Virgen and Ricardo Galindo.

For his part, the Villa Clara-born Alayo was named Cuba’s best team-sport athlete.

"I am very happy with this recognition. I thank my coaches and, in a special way, my partner Noslen, who has become one of my closest people—a brother both on and off the court," Alayo expressed.

Jorge Luis Alayo was honored as Cuba’s most outstanding team-sport athlete in 2025. Together with his partner Noslen Díaz, they also received the award for best team.
